Water only when the plants need it → less water, healthier plants → alerts before damage
two vertical walls, a homeowner who travels, and a timer that can’t adapt
Vertical Gardens Australia supplied and installed two vertical green walls at the homeowner’s home. The upper tiers sit above the fence line and get the full northern sun. The lower sections are well shaded. That means different parts of the same wall need different amounts of water, and the balance shifts with the weather and the seasons. A timer set for summer over-waters for most of the year, and when conditions change suddenly, the same schedule falls short.
The homeowner travels regularly – without monitoring, there is no way to know what each part of the wall needs, whether a tap has been turned off, or when the plants are fine to leave. Watering on a timer is not good enough.
